Jimmy Thompson, Jr. (AKA "JJ") recently competed in Louisiana at the 2009 Louisiana State Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Competition.  He was awarded with first place in the no gi advanced divis ion and third in the gi advanced division.  As a result of the first place award, he is now a 2009 Louisiana State Champion in submission wre stling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Hundreds of people competed.  ; You can look at www.bjjhome.com for more information as well.
JJ competes all over the United States and trains in Plano, TX under JD S helley at North Dallas Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (www.ndbjj.com).  He is currently a blue belt, but wil l be receiving his purple soon.
I feel this is definitely worth putting on the news, as JJ lives here in Sherman.
